POST C: 18x Land Survey Technician/Senior/Principal (D1- D5) Cadastral Administration 

STATION: Provincial Offices 

REPORTS TO: Chief Land Survey Technician 

DEPARTMENT: Surveyor General

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Retrieving information from previous surveys through searches and analysing it. 
  2. Carrying out field survey work. 
  3. Preparing the Certificates of Remaining Extent and conversion of areas by costing the certificates, calculating the areas and printing the certificates. 
  4. Examining the survey records by checking their adherence with the Land Survey Regulations and other related pieces of legislation. 
  5. Effecting cancellations and amendments of cadastral records in terms of the Land Survey Act and Deeds Registries Act. 
  6. Deducting registered title deeds. 
  7. Compiling survey records (drafting working plans, general plans and diagrams). 
  8. Making preliminary and final noting on compilations, diagrams and general plan tracings. 
  9. Noting of survey instructions on compilations. 
  10. Miscellaneous endorsements on diagrams and general plans. 
  11. Safe keeping of diagrams for state surveys and issuance of the diagrams to relevant authorities. 
  12. Compiling and submitting weekly photogrammetry reports to the Chief Land Survey Technician. 
  13. Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the Chief Land Survey Technician.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

The desired candidate should;

  • Possess a Diploma/Higher National Diploma in Land Surveying and Geomatics or equivalent. 
  • Experience in performing land survey duties will be an added advantage. 
  • Be knowledgeable of the Land Survey Act (Chapter 20:12), Land Survey 
  • Regulations and the Deeds Registries Act (Chapter 20:05) as amended. 
  • Be highly organized and display high levels of accuracy. 
  • Be able to use survey equipment and work under pressure. 
  • Be computer literate and able to use surveying and draughting software
