POST: 1x Geospatial Officer/Senior/Principal (D3-E4) Thematic Maps 

STATION: Harare Office

REPORTS TO: Deputy Director, Thematic Maps and GIS 

DEPARTMENT: Surveyor General

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  1. Checking the process of map revision.
  2. Identifying and raising procurement requests for the needed resources like hardware, software and materials.
  3. Monitoring the design of appropriate thematic map symbology.
  4. Processing the stakeholders’ thematic map requests.
  5. Verifying thematic map quotations.
  6. Checking and controlling the quality and quantity of thematic maps produced.
  7. Compiling and submitting weekly thematic map and GIS reports to the Deputy Director, Thematic Maps and GIS.
  8. Allocating duties to subordinates and appraising their performance.
  9. Performing other relevant duties as assigned by the Deputy Director, Thematic Maps and GIS. 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES 

The desired candidate should;

  • Hold a degree in Cartography, Geographical Information Systems or equivalent.
  • Experience in performing cartographic duties will be an added advantage.
  • Be able to use Geographical Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing equipment.
  • Be highly analytical and accurate.
  • Have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Be computer literate and able to use Cartography software.
